Obama Care: Yes, facts are stubborn things

Hello comrade!  You can help the Executive Branch of your National Government by sending “fishy” claims of “disinformation” about health insurance reform to a whitehouse.gov e-mail address!   Don’t worry about research estimating that millions of people would switch to government insurance because their employer chose it.  And don’t worry about what President Obama says really wants: single payer health care.  No. Just believe his assurances that you can keep your insurance and doctor.  Read on!

At the WhiteHouse.gov, blogger Macon Phillips has a post called “Facts are Stubborn Things,” where he writes about a video where

Linda Douglass, the communications director for the White House’s Health Reform Office, addresses one example that makes it look like the President intends to “eliminate” private coverage, when the reality couldn’t be further from the truth. … For the record, the President has consistently said that if you like your insurance plan, your doctor, or both, you will be able to keep them.

Phillips then describes how citizens can”help” the executive branch of the national government by sending “fishy” claims about health insurance reform to a whitehouse.gov e-mail address:

There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care.  These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation.  Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.

I guess if I wanted to help them out, I’d send the White House this video of Barack Obama and other supporters of the public plan saying they want single payer health care, where insurance companies would be outlawed. Or I’d mention what Barney Frank said: the “public option” is “best way to reach single payer.”

Mr. Phillips and Ms. Douglass would have us believe that just because Barack Obama says we’d be able to keep our physicians and insurance, then we would.  We should believe this – in spite of research showing that many employers would drop their coverage to buy the public plan, which would unfairly compete with commericial insurance. Under proposed reforms, may people’s insurance plan would become illegal because they do not satisfy new regulations, including those that affect ERISA, the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

We should also believe Mr. Obama, despite his saying that he really wants single-payer health care.   In fact, Obama has broken many promises, as itemized by PolitiFact.

If you would like to report yourself to Obama’s Thought Police, check out how Ari Armstrong and Diana Hsieh did wrote their letters to Obama’s Minister of Propaganda for some good pointers.

Update August 13: Check out this video claiming that flag@whitehouse.gov is illegal.
