Health care bill benefits insurance industry

March 21st, 2010 | by Brian Schwartz |

John Larson, the House Democratic Caucus chairman in a March 21 Bloomberg article:

The vote “comes down to whose side are you on.” Larson said. “Are you siding with the insurance industry or you’re siding on behalf of the people who’ve been waiting decades for this passage?”

More of the same bullsh*t.  As I’ve noted before, here are five ways HR 3590 (the Senate Bill) benefits the insurance industry:

  • The individual mandate.
  • The employer mandate.
  • Subsidies.
  • Regulations.
  • Limits on competition.

Read the Jacob Sullum’s article in Reason: Insurers Gone Wild! Why health insurers welcome Obama’s plan to tame them.   I listed this as #1 of many reasons that health care “reform” bill is immoral & won’t work.

I think it all depends on the circumstances. For most I imagine it will be a positive thing and lead to the public being more invested and trusting of a wider range of insurance companies, and thus more likely to shop around for an Insurance Quote instead of settling with the first one they see.
